Change of Match Venue for the 2011 / 2012 Season
Owermoigne FC have decided somewhat reluctantly, to play all of our home games this season (2011 / 2012) at the Thomas Hardye Leisure Centre, due to the poor condition of the Crossways pitch during the winter months, and the fact that it will struggle to cope with two teams playing on it over alternate weekend’s given its fragile state. We hope to return to Crossways at some time in the future, but not before the necessary remedial and maintenance works required for the pitch drainage system has been implemented by Crossways Parish Council, we will advise our supporters of any changes in our pitch venues accordingly, but for this season at least we will play all of our home games in Dorchester

Owermoigne FC - Appeal for land for a playing field
Since its inception in 2006, Owermoigne Football Team, has developed phenomenally and in 2007 the club opted to become ‘official’ and join the Dorset Saturday League. However, whilst league membership provides a sporting opportunity it also brings with it the need for a football pitch.
Owermoigne FC has shared a ground with Crossways FC, for the past 4-seasons, which is not an ideal situation for both teams. Particularly as the pitch suffers from drainage problems during the winter months, and given its fragile state it struggles to cope with two teams playing on it over alternate weekend’s during the season and numerous matches have to be postponed during the season as a consequence.
Therefore the team is urgently seeking the use of a suitable piece of ground, preferably with development potential, which can be used for both matches and training purposes. There are a number of funding opportunities available to us which we can explore if we can acquire some land, but typically these schemes finance projects which develop new or improve existing facilities that will benefit the local community i.e. grass pitches and changing rooms.
If you have such a piece of land, for sale or rent, or know of any possible suitable sites within a 6-mile radius of Owermoigne, which have potential and could be developed then please contact either John Strangwick (Club President) on (01305) 852535 or Steve Cole (Team Manager) on 07811 516525, or alternatively via e-mail to manager@owermoignefc.co.uk

Owermoigne FC Sign New Keeper
Owermoigne FC are thrilled to be able to announce the signing of Andy Neal former keeper of Storrington FC (the SWANS), who play in Division Two of the Sussex County League.
Steve Cole – Team Manager said “... Andy has recently moved to the area with his work and was looking for a local club to play for and came over for a trial with us. It was obvious to me from the start that Andy had played at a fairly high level, he was supremely confident in goal and his positioning was spot on in pulled off a number of save’s in quick succession and he immediately set about bossing his area and was constantly talking to his defenders.
Andy’s liked the set up and the lads we have at Owermoigne FC, and agreed to sign-up for the coming season, which is great news for the Team as we are always looking to sign quality players like him, who are experienced good attitude and work ethic to improve our squad of players.
Andy’s signing is an unexpected bonus for the Club and he brings some much needed experience to the team between the sticks. I am sure that over the coming weeks his commanding presence in the 18-yard box will prove to be an asset to the team and hopefully this will be reflected in our match day result’s during the course of the coming season..”.

Chairmans Statement
Chairman’s Report - Season 2010/11
I believe this season may well have been the most challenging since the club’s inception. Having been promoted to Division 4 not only were we playing against teams which on paper should have been far superior, but players also had to contend with uncertainties regarding the club’s continuity. However, the team had some excellent results during the season and deservedly finished eighth in our group.
Having struggled with the question of whether to step down as Coach / Team Manager, due to work commitments Steve Cole agreed to stay on for a further season which is great news for the Club.
Bob Larsen (Treasurer), Marian Strangwick (Secretary) and I also felt that it was time that the players took a more active part in running the club, and therefore did not wish to be re-elected. My thanks to them for their contribution to the team over the last few years.
Having been asked at the AGM to become Honorary President of the team I was highly delighted that my association with the team will continue. Thank you for this honour. I look forward to watching the team next season, but probably not on the coldest, wettest Saturdays! I enjoyed my stint as Chairman, and remain proud of Owermoigne Football Club as a team which shows respect to the other teams.
Finally I wish the team great success in the coming season!
John Strangwick - Chairman

Additional Sponsorship
Owermoigne Football Club would like to convey their grateful thanks and appreciation to Mrs Cicely Samways for her sponsorship of the Club. The donation we received is particularly meaningful to us all at the Club as Mrs Samways is the wife of the late Les Samways, one of the original members of the Owermoigne football team, who played for the club in the ‘Glorious Thirties’.
The team were inspired before the match by her words of encouragement - “..Do it again lads!, hard work, determination and above all team work, no hugging the ball for the individual goal..”, and then went on to beat the top of the table Corfe Mullen United by 3 goals to 2 and earn their first points of the season.

Team Selection 2011 / 2012 Season
Important Rules
This season, I want to play the strongest team possible each week. So, everyone will have to battle for their place in the team!
Each game is different and different team selections may be required, different formations played. Substitutions can be made through the game, but there may be occasions where a substitute only gets a few minutes, some may not get on - its all about the team getting the result.
Important Rules
1) If you are going to miss training try to let me know beforehand. I understand, that it is not always possible to make training. So as a matter of courtesy please let me know. If I cancel training I will endeavour to contact you all.
2) If you do miss training you have to let me know, that you are available for selection for the weekend game. If you don’t call or e-mail me then I will have to assume there is a problem and that you are not available.
3) It’s important that you contact me as early in the week as possible, by Thursday evening 6 pm latest to let me know your availability. Use either the club e-mail manager@owermoignefc.co.uk or my mobile (07811 516525), if you can’t get through to me leave a message.
4) You will all be given a fixture list if you know you won’t be available for a certain match due to other commitments, let me know well in advance.
5) Team selection for our matches will be posted on the club web site – Owermoignefc.co.uk on Thursday evenings.
6) If you are picked for a game and can’t make it please let me know as soon as possible, so that I can bring someone else into the squad.
7) If you have picked up an injury please let me know. You won’t be doing yourself or the team any favours by playing whilst injured and may compound the problem further. Better to miss a couple of matches with a minor injury, which with rest will heal, rather than continue to play on and end up sitting out the rest of the season and let your team mates down.
8) Please make sure you are on time for the game i.e.
Home games: I expect you to arrive at least 60-minutes before the kick-off to set up the pitch hang the nets and have sufficient time left for the pre-match warm-up and team talk.
Away games: I expect you to arrive at the venue a minimum of 45-minutes before the kick-off so that we have sufficient time for a pre-match warm-up and team talk.
If you are going to be late let me know.
Steve.
